About Us
Strangford Fuels, a coal delivery business based in Strangford, was established in 1981 by Comgall Milligan. Around 1990, home heating oil and red diesel delivery was added to the coal delivery business. The home heating oil business benefited from the government policy to move Housing Executive houses away from coal to oil heating, and the heating oil, red diesel and coal delivery business outgrew the Strangford depot.

A larger, more modern site was acquired in Downpatrick in 1995. This site has been continuously developed and is now a state of the art fuel depot with offices.

Comgall's son Gavin is a director and now runs the business, which remains a family undertaking. We have a fleet of well maintained oil, red diesel and coal delivery vehicles, including a mini tanker for heating oil deliveries where access is restricted.
Initially, Strangford Fuels bought its home heating oil and red diesel from other, larger oil distributors. The installation of the modern oil depot in Downpatrick now enables us to take bulk deliveries direct from the main fuel oil terminal in Belfast Harbour. This has given us considerable savings in our buying prices, which we can pass on to our home heating oil and red diesel customers as lower selling prices.

Our modern oil transfer system enables us to fill our oil delivery tankers faster. This faster oil tanker turnaround improves our delivery service level and also gives us further cost savings to pass on.
We also have a mini tanker that enables us to make oil deliveries where access is restricted. We deliver to homes and businesses at no extra charge.
